    Western Sydney man becomes 13th person charged in relation to $20 million fraud investigation

    This is a Serious Financial Crime Taskforce (SFCT) media release issued jointly by the Australian Federal Police, Australian Taxation Office and Australian Securities and Investments Commission. A 24-year-old from western Sydney is today scheduled to become the 13th person to face court for his alleged role in a deceptive $20 million fraud and money laundering operation.

    Adelaide man charged over alleged $38.5m tax fraud

    The AFP in conjunction with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) undertook a joint investigation as part of the Serious Financial Crime Taskforce (SFCT). A 74-year-old South Australian man is scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today (30 July, 2021), after being charged on summons on 21 June, 2021, in relation to an alleged taxation fraud spanning 15 years and totalling more than $38.5 million.

    Well known Melbourne businessman receives two year sentence for false BAS and GST claims

    A Melbourne businessman and former tax agent has today been sentenced to two years jail to be released immediately on a $5,000 good behaviour bond, after pleading guilty to two counts of dishonestly obtaining a gain from the Commonwealth. Mr David Brandi obtained $135,248 in fraudulent GST refunds lodged on behalf of his clients.
